About this product
Button mushroom is the most-farmed mushroom on the planet, and what's sold as button, cremini and portobello is technically the same species at different stages of maturity — button is simply harvested young, before the cap opens out. That familiarity is exactly the point of this pack: no foraging story, no premium positioning, just a reliable, mild-tasting mushroom pre-sliced and dried so it's ready whenever a recipe calls for mushroom and you don't want to deal with fresh stock going soft in the fridge.
One honest thing worth flagging before you rehydrate: fresh-cut button mushroom browns fast, sometimes within minutes of slicing. That's an enzyme reaction — polyphenol oxidase meeting oxygen — not spoilage, and it's the reason pre-sliced dried button is genuinely more convenient than buying fresh and slicing it yourself at home, since the browning has already happened during processing and won't continue once the slices are dried and sealed.
Use it exactly where you'd use fresh button — sabzis, gravies, fried rice, omelettes — just soak the slices in warm water for about 10 minutes first. Because it's dried rather than fresh, you're also getting mushroom's natural vitamin D2 and mineral content in a more concentrated, shelf-stable form, with none of the wastage that comes from a fresh punnet going slimy before you've used half of it.
