About this product
Tandoori masala traditionally relies on a mix of warming spices — think cumin, coriander, kashmiri chilli for colour more than raw heat, and a touch of dried fenugreek — and we've built this seasoning around that same base rather than a generic "tandoori flavour" shortcut, with mushroom powder blended in to add a savoury undertone that a pure dry spice mix doesn't naturally have on its own.
It's meant to be used the way you'd use a tandoori marinade dry rub — worked into paneer, tofu or vegetables with a little oil or curd before roasting or grilling, rather than sprinkled on at the very end. The colour and aroma profile are built for that high-heat roasting step specifically; used cold or raw, the spices read flatter than they will once they've hit a hot tawa or oven.
This is one of our two spicier seasonings, alongside the peri-peri blend, but the heat here is rounder and more spice-forward than the peri-peri's sharper chilli hit — closer to warmth than to raw spiciness. It works particularly well on tofu and paneer specifically, since both take on marinade flavour readily and roast well at the high heat this spice blend is designed for.
